Standard/Fine Tuning: $220
Fine tuning the piano to A4=440Hz (this is the pitch at which modern pianos are designed to be tuned). I can tune to other frequencies upon request.
Pitch Correction: $80
Pianos that have not been tuned in many years will likely need a pitch correction, which is rough tuning that gets the piano close to the correct pitch before it can be fine-tuned at the correct pitch (see my FAQ page for a more in-depth explanation). This service is always in addition to a tuning.
Service Visit ($110)
This is the price for an appointment that does not include a tuning (for example: your piano has a broken key, but does not need a tuning). This covers the cost of the visit and the first hour of repairs. After the first hour, repairs are billed at $100/hr.
Repairs: $100/hr.
I cover a wide variety of minor and moderate repairs, including string replacement, regluing keytops, pedal repairs, and problems that cause sticky/broken keys. I can diagnose and repair most sticky keys in 5-30 minutes. If you'd like quotes for an individual repair, please contact me. I may need more information (for example, a video of the problem) for some repairs for an accurate quote.
Major Repairs & Rebuilding
I offer a few major repairs such as elbow replacements (full set) and bridle strap replacements (full set). I do not offer most other rebuilding services, but there are a few more major repairs I am trained to do. Please reach out to me to ask about other major repairs and rebuilding services.
Regulation: $100/hr.
Currently, I take regulation jobs on a case-by-case basis. If you're interested in full or partial regulation for your piano, please contact me. Full/partial regulation is only available for uprights and grands (not spinets), in most cases.
Full Internal Cleaning: uprights $150, grands $200
Full internal cleaning including cleaning under keys and dusting case (small discount available if cleaning is added on to a tuning appointment). For grands, soundboard cleaning is included. Full cleaning not available for spinets.
Keytop Cleaning: $25-100 (15 minutes-1 hour)
For pianos with keys that have not been cleaned in many years and have heavy residue, sometimes full key cleaning takes up to an hour and requires heavy scrubbing and large amounts of key cleaner.
Voicing: $100/hr.
-
Basic voicing (for evenness of tone/volume): $50
-
Hammer filing: $200
-
Custom voicing options
I can make voicing recommendations for your piano upon request. For more advanced voicing (such as chemical voicing), I may refer you to another local technician who specializes in voicing.
Inspection/Evaluation:
Written: $300
Written, including labor estimates and recommendations: $350
Includes a comprehensive, detailed report of piano condition for informational or pre-purchase purposes. Not to be used for appraisal or insurance purposes--does not include an estimate of monetary value. Best if completed during a tuning (information on pinblock condition can only be evaluated during a full tuning). Inspection appointments take about 1 hour or add about 1 hour to a tuning appointment.
Purchase Consultation
Seeking the advice and feedback of a piano technician before proceeding with a piano purchase is always a great idea! I am happy to provide consultation and advice for free over email, text, or phone call, when I am available. Inspecting the piano in person before you decide to commit to purchase is also something I can offer, though I do charge for any in-person visits or consultation.
